Indigo Words
Simple, effective, responsive communication services to help you get your message across.
Indigo Words is the trading name for copywriting, public relations and marketing services provided by Lorna Young. Established in Dumfries in 2006 I support businesses and organisations across a variety of sectors, from region wide projects with complex outputs such as Savour the Flavours to occasional PR for sole traders such as Devorgilla Gallery. From copywriting websites or adverts to helping my clients win big awards or make a splash in the papers, I use clear communication to get results.
I work with an enjoyably diverse range of clients and my broad skills mix in communications and marketing is particularly well suited to SMEs embarking on a programme of growth, who require a flexible and adaptive response to support their business. My background is a mix of PR, marketing, sales analysis and business development and I have particular experience in supporting owner-managed businesses.
Finding a supplier in whose hands you trust the reputation of your business is a big decision and I believe that client-supplier relationships work best when they are relaxed, respectful and fully transparent.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Lorna for nearly five years in different roles. During this time she has continuously impressed me with her commitment to the business in hand and her enormous ability to focus her energies. Lorna is the consummate professional, exceptionally talented with the written word, energetic and quick to respond. She has an uncanny ability to understand other peoples’ business with all their foibles and nuances and can enunciate them accordingly. I would therefore have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this young lady to any client secure in the knowledge that she would be a great asset to any organisation."
Dave Smith, Managing Director of Buccleuch Arms Hotel & Chairman of Savour the Flavours
“Lorna Young has been writing consistently engaging copy for Key Parker since 2006. Her flexible style and responsive approach mean that we have to look no further to deliver on briefs from clients in sectors as diverse as financial services to automotive to construction. Lorna has recently written five entries for our client CEMEX, a global construction materials supplier, for the prestigious Construction Marketing Awards. The client was not only delighted with the entry copy, they won all five awards. Need I say more!”
Gordon Carmichael, Director, Key Parker Ltd
One of Dumfries & Galloway's most dynamic businesses who have developed and rolled out an exceptional safety monitoring product which is now being used by the biggest names on the high street. I have had the privilege of supporting Positive Response for more than five years, developing solutions for communicating the attributes of their safety system to target audiences while avoiding traditional marketing methods in order to maintain the covert nature of their product.
Committed to ensuring that Dumfries & Galloway benefits from Scotland's renewables boom, ScottishPower Renewables are developing an exciting programme of economic development activities designed to benefit Dumfries & Galloway businesses and local people. I support SPR with some of their local communications, from strategy development to speech writing.
Alan Elliot of Dalbeattie Fine Foods holds the distinction of being the only person ever to simultaneously hold the Scottish Haggis Champion, Scottish Steak Pie Champion and Scottish Black Pudding Champion titles - and he swiftly followed those up by scooping UK Young Butcher of the Year and being a finalist in the PSYBT Entrepreneur of the Year. I’ve worked with Alan since 2007 on his marketing and communications - writing web text, award entry forms, press releases and now looking after his social media.
